Trainer Trent Busuttin admits New Zealand Derby winner Willydoit is superior to his three-year-old, Thedoctoroflove, but is undeterred in targeting the Australian Derby in Sydney next month.
“You can’t worry about one horse,” Busuttin told racing.com.
“Things can go wrong, and they are all there to be beaten.”
While acknowledging Willydoit’s quality, Busuttin believes Thedoctoroflove, who finished second in last Saturday’s G1 New Zealand Derby, will continue to perform his best in Sydney.
Busuttin was impressed with Willydoit’s win, especially considering his earlier form.
“It was a good training effort,” he added, referring to the horse’s turn-around after a poor lead-up race.
Looking ahead to the ATC Derby on April 5, Busuttin is also considering Emphasize and Confetti Garden, with both horses set for lead-up races in the Rosehill Guineas or Alister Clark Stakes.
