The Peter Moody-trained Brambles completed a clean sweep of Brisbane’s three-year-old staying features when he led all the way to win the Group One Queensland Derby at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
Beautifully rated in front by Brad Rawiller, the son of Savabeel controlled proceedings throughout the 2400m Classic and proved too strong for last week’s Queensland Oaks winner Quintessential with Westsouthwest third.

Brambles completed a winning hat-trick after victories in the Group Three Rough Habit Plate (2000m) at Doomben and Group Three Grand Prix Stakes (2200m) at the same track on May 26.
Rawiller had no hesitation taking Brambles straight to the lead from his awkward draw and the gelding relished the role, turning for home with a break of 2-1/2 lengths over Quintessential.
The New Zealand filly tried her heart out in the straight but Brambles had plenty in reserve and comfortably held her at bay.
It was his fifth win from 10 starts which have also resulted in four placings for prizemoney in excess of $560,000.
