Boom NZ colt to bypass 2021 Golden Slipper

Boom New Zealand colt Sword Of State will not head to Sydney this week to contest the $3.5m Golden Slipper at Rosehill.

Sword Of State was an emphatic winner of the Sistema Stakes on Saturday at Ellerslie prompting connections to consider flying the colt to Sydney for the rich 2021 Golden Slipper however a decision this morning has been made to bypass the race despite the horse pulling up well from his win.

Te Akau Racing on twitter wrote ‘Plenty of interest in our exciting Group 1 & Group 3 winning juvenile colt Sword of State – we can confirm he has come through the race brilliantly but will bypass the Golden Slipper on Saturday – with clear other options in Sydney & NZ firmly on his radar’

There has been no announcement as to what races he will now be targeted at but Sydney options will still be considered.

Sword of State was a $15 chance with Sportsbet prior to the announcement.
