Jockey Blake Spriggs remains in ICU at Canberra Hospital under heavy sedation after suffering a concerning bacterial infection.
Blake Spriggs’ mother has given an update on her son via Facebook which reads;
“Blake remains under heavy sedation in ICU at Canberra Hospital. He has had some complications re a bacterial infection yet to be identified. This is affecting his gallbladder and kidneys which is of great concern to the medical staff.
The operation on his fractures was successful but is minor compared to the issues with his broken ribs and punctured lungs. He is still incubated and will remain so for at least another week.”
Spriggs was involved in a serious fall at Moruya on Friday along with fellow jockey Beany Panya who is experiencing ongoing disorientation due to her head injury, however, she remains in a stable condition.
