Shinn’s tally of 57 Melbourne wins received a boost with two additional victories due to Wiremu Pinn’s disqualifications, taking him to a total of 60 wins.
This places him one win ahead of the sidelined longtime leader Jamie Kah.
Shinn’s outstanding performance marks a significant milestone as he aims to secure his first Melbourne premiership, despite an upcoming 14-day suspension for careless riding.
In the midst of the intense competition, Jamie Kah, who had been leading the premiership race, remains under scrutiny in a stewards’ inquiry related to potentially damaging photos.
Although Kah has been absent from racing since her fall at Flemington in March, she intends to return once she receives medical clearance.
