Dual Group 1 winner Beiwacht produced an eye-catching display at Warwick Farm on Tuesday, leading throughout to comfortably win a 900-metre barrier trial.
The Godolphin star, now prepared by Chris Waller following James Cummings’ move to Hong Kong, was partnered by Nash Rawiller and never looked in danger, stopping the clock in 53.99 seconds.
Beiwacht finished ahead of fellow Godolphin galloper Attica, the gelded Spring Champion Stakes winner, who also impressed as he continued his preparations for a spring return.
The talented colt, whose Group 1 victories came in last year’s Golden Rose and this year’s All Aged Stakes, is expected to trial once more before connections decide on his first-up assignment.
Attica’s encouraging runner-up finish also offered confidence as he looks to rediscover the form that made him one of Australia’s leading three-year-olds last spring.
Ciaron Maher-trained Tornado Valley finished third, while ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes winner Campione D’Italia and Yulong sprinter Angel Capital also took part in the trial.
