Apprentice jockey Nyssa Burrells is in an induced coma after suffering a brain injury in a fall at the Warwick Farm jump-outs.
The horse Burrells was riding on Friday morning landed on top of her after it fell.
Racing NSW’s Dr David Duckworth said Burrells was being operated on at Liverpool Hospital to drain a bleed on her brain and was listed in a critical condition.
She also has numerous other injuries that will need to be managed later.
Duckworth said more would be known in the next 24 hours depending how she responds to the brain surgery.

Apprentice jockey Nyssa Burrells is back in an induced coma at Liverpool Hospital after her operation to cease bleeding around the brain was completed. The bleeding was suffered earlier today when a horse fell on her at trackwork.
