Apicius, one of the outsiders for the VRC Oaks, has been scratched from the Group One race at Flemington because of an elevated temperature.
Her withdrawal leaves a field of 14 for Thursday’s $1 million 2500m-race for three-year-old fillies at Flemington, with the Danny O’Brien-trained Miami Bound the favourite on race eve.
Apicius, who tailed off to finish last in Saturday’s Wakeful, had been $126 in Oaks betting.
The filly was the only runner in the race for co-trainers Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott who won the Oaks two years ago with Pinot.
