Caloundra trainer David Vandyke has continued his great start to the season and is hoping to capitalise in feature races during the Queensland summer carnival.
Caulfield Guineas runner-up Alligator Blood is back in Vandyke’s stable ahead of a short summer campaign.
Alligator Blood suffered his first defeat in five starts in the Group One Caulfield Guineas last month when he was nabbed on the line by Super Seth.
Vandyke is convinced the gelding will win in elite class before too long.
“He is back from a short break and I will trial him at Caloundra on November 26,” Vandyke said.
All going well, Alligator Blood will take his place in the $2 million Magic Million Guineas on January 11.
Regular jockey Ryan Maloney will ride him throughout his summer carnival program.
Vandyke trained his 21st winner for the season when Pinnacle Star won at his home track at the Sunshine Coast on Saturday.
“I liked the way he was professional and came through the field from last,” Vandyke said.
“He might be ready for something a bit better.”
Vandyke has a 28 per cent win strike rate this season and 63 per cent place strike rate.
