A post mortem on Cox Plate winner Pinker Pinker has confirmed the mare died of an anaphylactic reaction to a routine therapy.
Pinker Pinker collapsed and died on April 4 at the stables of trainer Greg Eurell after being given an injection of Pentason-gold, a joint maintenance therapy.
A four-year-old by Reset out of Miss Marion, Pinker Pinker cost $120,000 as a yearling.
She raced 18 times for six wins, none more spectacular than her success in last year’s Cox Plate.
She was also Group One-placed in the 2011 Australian Oaks and banked more than $2.6 million prizemoney.
The University of Melbourne also conducted a post mortem on Jotilla who was euthanased after being injured in the first steeplechase of the jumps season on March 28 at Sandown.
The autopsy found the injury sustained in the fall was a fracture of the right humerus and no other predisposed injuries were detected.
