A dramatic moment unfolded at Selangor Turf Club on Sunday when jockey Lemos De Souza appeared to fall from hot favourite Pacific Power shortly after the start from barrier one.
Described by some the race caller as having “practically just jumped off the horse,” the incident has prompted stewards to launch an inquiry into whether the jockey was dislodged or voluntarily exited the saddle.
The bizarre nature of the fall, combined with the fact that Pacific Power was a heavily backed favourite, has raised eyebrows among punters and officials alike.
