It probably doesn’t matter if you are just a casual racing lover, or a trainer, breeder, jockey, professional punter, school teacher, janitor, unemployed bum, et al.
If you have a punt every now and then, you have an internal Black Book in your mind always looking for future winners.
Well, add this name to it because I doubt I’ve ever seen a better thing beaten.
I’ll set the scene.
It was at the midweek Kensington card this week and the horse was in race 3.
Rachel King rode her and the horse’s name is MOANA JEWEL.
Just watch the replay. She is on the fence, just off the speed with a purple jacket and a yellow and purple cap on.
And I’m saying she wins by ¾ of a length possibly more if her luck had been in.
She was held up all the way. Blocked for a run at the most crucial stage in the straight, then eased off heels, losing momentum. That losing momentum was the killer move because she had, while fatigued, to pick herself up and find a length in a very short period of time.
She did that but she gets beaten a head by a last start winner who had clear running all the way.
Tracey Bartley trains this mare and he must have felt sick all the way down the straight.
Moana Jewel (Ocean Park-Blue Rata Jewel) is a handy 5YO mare who is eligible for BM 70 races. She’s had 17 starts and won 2 thus far with 8 placings.
I’m not suggesting it was King’s fault. More like fate.
But I’m on for a stack when she races next start.
You should be also.
