It seems every cloud does have a silver lining.
Just days after being let go from the future rides on star colt Profondo, that day of doldrums has turned around amazingly for Dolan.
Firstly, he won the Gr 1 The Galaxy on cult hero horse Shelby Sixtysix, giving him his greatest day in the saddle, then outside of racing, a whole new avenue of opportunity just opened up for him.
You see, like most Irish lads, Robbie Dolan can sing.
And he can sing soooo well that this week, the producers of Australia’s biggest reality TV show, The Voice, said, “you’re in brother.”
Dolan will be one of the featured contestants on the upcoming series, hoping to get a chair turned around by either Keith Urban, Guy Sebastian, Jessica Mauboy or Britain’s Rita Ora, so that his singing career can take off too.
What an opportunity that would be for him. Australia has been so kind to Dolan since he arrived a few years back to polish his riding trade.
And now this.
In The Daily Telegraph today he was quoted saying, “this opportunity feels like a dream come true.
“I’ve always wanted to do this since I was a little kid. But racing just took over my life.”
Dolan is 26 and ready to make his mark on stage.
We wish him all the very best. The Voice now airs on Channel 7, with the new season airing after Easter.
