It’s not something you see every day, but Single Bullet has pulled an incredible feat.
The Gary Portelli-trained three-year-old lost a shoe during the Wilkes Quality at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday, but instead of having it drop on the track, the colt caught the shoe with his tail.
The odds of a shoe coming off and being caught on a tail is extremely low, but Single Bullet managed to pull it off, much to the surprise of jockey Tye Angland.
“I’ve never seen that before,” Angland said.
Racing NSW chief steward Marc Van Gestel said he couldnβt believe a horse could throw a shoe mid-race which then ended up in its tail, but remarkably the shoe remained on his tail for the entire duration of the race.
Portelli said Single Bullet had a knack of throwing a shoe, but he was left shaking his head at what happened on Saturday.
