They are I AM A HIT (I Am Invincible-Courtesan) and the fascinatingly named ROYALTY (Fastnet Rock-Sister Havanna).
I think Royalty can win this race and being a colt, a happy life post racing is still an option.
But between them, this pair attracted over $1million in the sales ring as yearlings. $1,030,000 to be exact.
Tim Stakemire bought Royalty on behalf of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa for $700,000 while I Am A Hit obviously sold for $330,000.
Between them they have raced twice for a combined total of $4,800.
To put their value, or cost anyway into perspective, the combined total for the rest of the field, which features sons by Deep Field, Zoffany, So You think, Savabeel, Sebring, Monaco Consul and The Wow Signal, reached $800,000.
Team Hayes and Dabernig train Royalty and he has pace and strength and should be right on pace all the way and then be in this finish.
I Am A Hit is prepared by young Caulfield trainer Nick Ryan for a small team of owners. His only start was a 3rd at Benalla.
So, nearly $2million worth of 3YOs vie today for a $16,000 first place cheque in this maiden.
