A couple from Sydney have orchestrated an elaborate scam which cost the TAB more than $600,000.
Talanoa Raine and her husband Trevor who was an IT specialist working for Tabcorp at the time conducted the scam by printing unclaimed TAB tickets which were over three months old.
Trevor would search for any TAB ticket which had not been claimed for more than three months, copy the barcode number and print the tickets at home in which his wife would then claim at TAB outlets across Sydney and Melbourne.
The scam came undone when a customer tried to collect their winnings but the voucher had already been paid out. Using CCTV footage it showed Ms Raine cashing the ticket.
Ms Raine was sentenced to one year and three months behind bars whilst her husband Trevor was given two years and four months.
