As star mare Imperatriz prepares for her first breeding season this spring, the pedigree experts at G1 Goldmine suggest that a date with champion sire Snitzel or one of his accomplished Group 1-producing sons would be a fitting match.

The G1 Goldmine Stallion Match, a widely trusted tool utilised by studs and breeders across Australasia, analyses data and insights from previous matings to assess the compatibility between stallions and mares.

A ’20/20 match’ is bestowed upon a mating when there are at least two Group or Graded Stakes winners with closely aligned pedigree patterns. According to Matthew Ennis of G1 Goldmine, Imperatriz is ideally suited for Snitzel and his esteemed progeny, such as Shamus Award, Russian Revolution, Trapeze Artist, Wild Ruler, and In The Congo, all rated ’20/20′ on the Stallion Match.

Other notable ’20/20′ matches for Imperatriz include Hello Youmzain from Cambridge Stud, Fastnet Rock from Coolmore Stud, and Too Darn Hot from Darley.

Ennis elaborated, stating, “It’s no surprise that Snitzel and his sons are the preferred options for an I Am Invincible mare.” The hypothetical Snitzel x Invincible Spirit cross has proven to be exceptionally successful, surpassing expectations by 5.1 times.

Additionally, Ennis highlighted the potential of Snitzel’s sons, Russian Revolution, Shamus Award, and Trapeze Artist, who share similar G1 Goldmine profiles.

Exploring further possibilities, Ennis noted the intriguing potential of the Sadler’s Wells line, with So You Think and Dundeel emerging as viable options to breed a horse with a pedigree akin to Masked Crusader, Good Idea, and Victor The Winner.

Imperatriz, a remarkable 10-time Group 1 winner, recently retired by Te Akau Racing, is set to be offered at public auction in either Australia or New Zealand ahead of the 2024 spring season.
