An inquiry has begun into a video showing a jumps jockey punching a horse before the race.

The Irish Turf Club is looking into the incident which occurred at Tramore last Friday with the jockey Davy Russel who rode Kings Dolly to front stewards who said they were not aware of the incident until it was brought to their attention after the meeting hence the delay.
Denis Egan the executive of the Turf Club told Sporting Life;
“We only became aware of it late Saturday evening and it is being fully investigated,” Egan said.
“As part of the investigation, we will examine whatever footage is available and decide then whether or not any rules have been broken.”
