New Zealand star galloper Xtravagant looks likely to head to Australia in Autumn to target the Australian Guineas following it’s impressive win in the New Zealand 2000 Guineas on Saturday.
Xtravagant went into the race as a narrow $4.20 favourite and was taken straight to the lead by jockey Matthew Cameron. At the top of the straight it was the clear horse to beat and when Cameron let the horse go at the 300m mark it quickly put a massive gap on the field, finishing the race with a breath-taking 8.5 length victory over the next best horse.
