What is your first racing memory?
Hannibal Lad winning the Old Newton Cup at Haydock for my father.
Who is your favourite horse and why?
My first winner, Shoplifter. He is retired and lives in my garden.
Who is the best horse you’ve been involved with?
Redkirk Warrior. I was his track rider. It was a real thrill watching him win the Lightning Stakes and the Newmarket twice.
And the best horse you have seen?
Frankel.
Who do you admire most in racing?
My staff for putting up with me!
Who is your ‘what if’ horse?
Suparazi, if he didnβt bump into Jimmysstar and Gringotts I would have looked like a genius!
What is one change/improvement you’d love to see in racing?
More accurate track ratings. I feel like tracks are not upgraded enough when they are very firm.
What’s the funniest moment you’ve experienced in racing?
Nicky Henderson reversing his car into an owner’s car then blaming them for being in the way.
What is your favourite racing moment/biggest thrill?
My first Flemington win with Suparazi.
What is your favourite pastime outside of racing?
Being with my family, golfing, fishing.
What is your favourite T.V show?
Peaky Blinders.
