What is your first racing memory?

Riding the arm of the sofa in front of the racing on the TV.

Was your family involved in racing?

Yes, my father was a trainer. My mother was a jockey turned trainer.

Who is the best horse you’ve been involved with?

Spinning World, champion miler in Europe during my time at Jonathan Pease’s.

And the best horse you have seen?

So You Think.

Who do you admire most in racing?

Gai Waterhouse.

Who is your ‘what if’ horse?

We trained a talented mare called Ocean Miss who was plagued with injuries. We are breeding from her now so hopefully her progeny can make amends.

What is one change/improvement you’d love to see in racing?

Stronger crackdown on cheats.

Which horse currently racing would you love to train?

Ka Ying Rising would help establish a bit of financial stability!

What’s the funniest moment you’ve experienced in racing?

So many, you need a good sense of humour!

What is your favourite racing moment/biggest thrill?

We took a horse called I Am Vinnie to Randwick to win three times. The first time paying $80, it was a tremendous thrill to all involved. He was no superstar but his personality meant he was a firm stable favourite.

What is your favourite pastime outside of racing?

Very little time for anything much. Right now I’m loving the tennis though.

What is your favourite movie?

Meet The Fockers.

Best concert you’ve seen?

Coldplay.

Favourite food?

Seafood.

Favourite racecourse?

Randwick.

If you weren’t a racehorse trainer what would you be doing?

Chef.
