The Chatham Stakes, known as the TAB.com.au Stakes in 2012, is a Group 3 event hosted by the Victoria Racing Club. Taking place at Flemington Racecourse, this 1400 metre handicap race is held on Derby Day during the Melbourne spring racing carnival. The Chatham Stakes has been run since 1979, although it has undergone a few name changes over this time.

The Chatham Stakes is held on the same day as the Victoria Derby, the Myer Classic, the Coolmore Stud Stakes, and the Mackinnon Stakes. Known in 2012 as the TAB.com.au Stakes, this event has also been known as the VRC Royal Hong Kong JC Plate, VRC Yallambee Stud Stakes, VRC The Lexus Stakes, and VRC AAMI Stakes.
The TAB.com.au Stakes may be tackled after events such as the 1600 meter Group 1 Toorak Handicap at Caulfield Racecourse. Horses may go on after this race to feature in events like the Group 1 Railway Stakes and Kingston Town Classic.
Some of the more notable horses to have won this race in its short history include All Silent who scored a Chatham Stakes/Emirates Stakes double in 2008 and Scenic Peak, who won the Chatham Stakes in 2001 and 2003, while also winning the 2002 Emirates Stakes in the process. Bezeal Bay is also notable, winning the Bill Ritchie Handicap, Chatham Stakes, and Emirates Stakes in 1998.
The 2011 edition of the Chatham Stakes was won by Woorim, who took the victory in a stunning finish ahead of Thankgodyou’rehere in second and Toorak Toff in third place.
