Silver Shadow Stakes history and past winners

The Silver Shadow Stakes is a 1200 metre race for three year old fillies under set weight conditions.  This race has quite a long history in Australia, being held at the Warwick Farm track since 1980.  With $125,000 of prize money up for offer in 2012, the Silver Shadow Stakes has attracted some fine nominations this year.

Many horses treat the Silver Shadow Stakes as a lead-up to higher group races in the Spring carnival, although it is an interesting race in its own right.  This race has been included in the Princess Series of races that also includes the Flight Stakes, Tea Rose Stakes, and Furious Stakes.  The Silver Shadow Stakes takes place alongside the Group 2 Warwick Stakes and the Group 3 Up and Coming Stakes at Warwick Farm Racecourses.

There has been a number of well known names in the winners list of the Silver Shadow Stakes throughout the years, including some who went on to make the Silver Shadow / Furious Stakes double.  These horses include Victory Vein who managed the double in 2002, Mnemosyne in 2005, and Samantha Miss in 2008.  Gold Edition is also another great name to take out this race, winning in 2006.  The 2011 winner of the Silver Shadow Stakes was Pane in the Glass, followed by Florentina in second and Streama in third.
