The David Payne stable, who in my humble opinion is the sharpest and most deadly accurate betting yard in Australia, if not the world, pulled off another perfectly executed betting plunge today in the opening race at Randwick.
Obvious Step, who was as much as $17.00 this morning with tab.com.au, was officially backed from an opening on course price of $15.00 to SP at $9.50.
Jean Van Overmeire aided the cause with a peach of a rails hugging ride as the Payne trained galloper snuck through to blouse the race favourite prepared by Chris Waller.
The beauty of the ‘gambles’ landed by the stable is their patience. They might only pull off say, 4 or 5 a year, but when they put the money down they rarely miss.
Here’s a guide to following the stable money and making a profit….
•Ignore all pre-post betting, follow only official on course fluctuations (which can be found online at TopSport for each race), the stable money only ever goes on in the lead up to the race, never early.
•Only take notice of money for a David Payne trained runner when they immediately firm from the opening official price, without any outward movement prior to it shortening.
•Back the runners each way, the money that goes on is on the each way basis, as often horses can be big odds when backed.
•Be Patient! They don’t come along every week, or even every month.
