A strong field has been assembled for the Tramway Stakes (1400m) this Saturday at Randwick in what shapes up as a key Epsom Handicap lead up.
Down below is a speed map, runner preview and $100 betting strategy for the 2025 Tramway Stakes.
2025 Tramway Stakes Runner Preview:
1. Miltarize: Hasn’t won in a long time, trials have been just fair and despite J Mac booked, he can go through to the keeper.
2. Linebacker: Gun horse at his best I suspect. I also suspect that drawing wide here, he’ll be back near last and his targets are the Epsom/Golden Eagle, so is he fully wound up?
3. Port Lockroy: Interrupted Autumn/Winter prep so penning him. Spring/Summer was enormous, trials have been encouraging…watch betting.
4. Willydoit: Better suited over further, drawn wide, only one trial in Sydney for the return…not for me.
5. Private Eye: Private Eye is a class animal and got the job done first up in the PB Lawrence. I will say he did get complete control in front and it pretty much turned out to be a barrier trial. Drawn wide, but should press forward and is very well in at the weights.
6. Kovalica: Likely has eyes on the Cups maybe? Ended last prep on a high but for me, he’s not sharp enough to beat these.
7. Pericles: Fascinating runner that is now with Bjorn Baker and his trial work has been very strong. Market will be the guide. If he’s hard in betting, he’s here to play. If he’s soft late, it’ll be a barrier trial.
8. Angel Capital: SCR
9. Coleman: He looks gone. Last prep was poor, trials leading in have been poor…not troubling this lot.
10. Al Mubhir: Hit and miss horse and despite a nice trial to get ready last week, I think he will be better suited over a bit further.
11. Osipenko: Better suited over further and trials indicate he’s not here to play.
12. Territory Express: He’s a rocket at his best…but who knows where he is at after last week and on top of that, his barrier manners.
13. Waterford: Waterford is a Chris Waller trained gelding that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since June 14 when fourth in the Wayne Wilson at Eagle Farm behind Pier, who I think is a Group l winner of the future. Trial work leading in has been solid, he flies fresh…watch betting.
14. With Your Blessing: Got a peach front running steer from Alysha Collett in the Show County but had no answers for Lazzura. 1400m, I think, is fine….just needs to get a cheap lead.
15. Swiftfalcon: He’s a nightmare Swiftfalcon for Team Hawkes…but gee he looks to have trialled up enormous for his return and I think being trained as a miler, he can be quite effective this Spring, starting here. Hopefully can take up a spot, be effective late and make a statement.
16. War Eternal: Been up a while but ran very well in the Winx Stakes and looks suited back to this level. One for exotics.
17. Depth Of Character (First Emergency): He came of age last prep with a host of wins, helped by good placement. Trial to get ready was strong, watch betting because he does have talent.

Can’t see much early speed here. With Your Blessing, I suspect, gets front end control. Do they give Pericles a dig in the ribs or opt for cover. Private Eye, despite drawing wide, should sit on speed and likely sit outside With Your Blessing. War Eternal won’t be far away.
