One of the key races at Pakenham this Saturday is The Supernova (1400m), headlined by Private Eye.
Down below is a speed map, runner preview and $100 betting strategy for the 2025 The Supernova.
2025 The Supernova Runner Preview:
1. Here To Shock: Here To Shock was an impressive winner of the Testa Rossa two weeks ago, getting complete front-end control and he gave nothing else a look in to win impressively. 1400m specialist with a good racing style and will take running down.
2. Pinstriped: Class animal when right and was far from disgraced in the CF Orr behind Jimmysstar. He brings the A1 form and does race well on the fresh side. He is a must for exotics.
3. Private Eye: Private Eye is a star for Joe Pride and has to be rated as just about top seed. He last raced in the Russell Balding at Randwick where he didn’t go a yard on the track yet somehow worked home with purpose behind Jimmysstar. Tick-over trial says he’s doing just fine and with a class edge, will clearly take beating.
4. Arkansaw Kid: Arkansaw Kid steps up to 1400m after resuming over 1200m in The Meteorite where he looked the winner in the run but was very weak late, suggesting he may need the run. Fitter, 1400m, a quiet ride, he can threaten.
5. Warnie: Just had too tough of a run in the Cranbourne Cup and felt the pinch late. Like him back to 1400m and maps better. Just depends if there is petrol left in the tank.
6. Watchme Win: Thought he had every chance in The Meteorite and this looks a bridge too far.
7. Lim’s Kosciuszko: Sat on speed in the Doveton when resuming and battled on really well behind Aviatress. Is there signs of life? Maybe, but enough to say he can measure up.
8. Zou Sensation: Such an honest campaigner and was game as ever in The Meteorite against the race shape. 1400m suits better, good tempo to sit off… in the mix.
9. Taken: He’s a ripper this boy. Loved the way he knuckled down to win fresh at Caulfield. I think he’ll make the grade in time… make it here? Not sure, but he maps perfect.
10. Hughes: Sneaky good run in the Testa Rossa behind Here To Shock after getting a mile back. Has a gate to settle much closer and be effective late. At a big price, I can entertain him for exotics.
11. Proved: Got the bob of the head to win the How Now and yes, Aviatress has franked the form, but this looks too hard.
12. Roll On High: Thought she turned it up in the Summoned where it looked cherry ripe for her. Maps ideally again… but I’ve had enough of her.
13. Gumdrops: She’s racing well but needs it easier.
14. Jenni The Fox: Real eye-catcher in The Meteorite and is bursting to win. Just not here.

2025 The Supernova Speed Map
Here To Shock looks your natural leader but he will have company in the shape of Lim’s Kosciuszko and Zou Sensation. Hughes should hold a forward spot from the inside gate, likewise Warnie and Arkansaw Kid. Private Eye will settle handy as well.
