One of the feature races at Cranbourne this Saturday is The Meteorite (1200m), a slot race worth $1 Million.
Down below is a speed map, runner preview and $100 betting strategy for the 2025 The Meteorite.
2025 The Meteorite Runner Preview:
1. Arkansaw Kid: First up since Sep 20, he is the class runner but just one soft jumpout to get ready tells me they may have eyes on The Supernova instead vs this race.
2. Jigsaw: Flying this horse, though maybe a touch flattered? Scraped in two back in the Apache Cat then had the pattern in his corner in the McEwen. Looks the leader and will give cheek but can mark him longer.
3. Nadal: Nadal won this race last year and can bounce back from last start. He ran two weeks ago at Flemington on the bottomless track and didn’t fire a shot at all. He didn’t have the gutbuster like some on that day because he didn’t produce the big effort like others. He can bounce back hard.
4. Watchme Win: Watchme Win appeals here. Three weeks between runs since racing in the Rising Fast on Derby Day when near the speed and tried hard. Just lacked the quality to go with them late when fourth to Caballus. That form does read quite well for this.
5. Zou Sensation: Led everywhere bar the post at Flemington, nabbed late by Warnie. Back to 1200m I like, good racing style, he is clearly hard to beat.
6. Need Some Luck: Got conditions to suit at Flemington and made a mess of them late. He won’t get those sort of conditions here and this is much harder I suspect.
7. Beauty Charge: Beauty Charge is several weeks between runs since contesting the Sydney Stakes where he bombed the start and was never a factor behind Rothfire. Tick over trial was sharp and off his first up effort, he’ll take beating here.
8. Hedged: Gee the love affair has with this horse needs to stop. Boston Rocks safely held him last Saturday…Boston Rocks would be double figures here. Very keen to oppose.
9. Klabel: Looks the map horse and ran well in the McEwen but just think he lacks the class.
10. Sought After: Sought After should appreciate a rise to 1200m after racing over 1100m on Bendigo Cup Day. He got back to near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he did make up good headway late behind Harry’s Yacht. Fitter, 1200m, can settle closer and be effective late.
11. Stretan Angel: Hit and miss this girl. Her best is good enough, as seen two back at Caulfield, then last start at Flemington, she was just fair. Can’t have her.
12. Soft Love: Soft Love is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness after racing on Derby Day over 1100m. She got back to near last in the run and while she was never threatening, she kept chasing and was pretty good late in the piece. Hard fit, her best is good enough to threaten.
13. Extratwo: Not up to these.
14. Jenni The Fox: Jenni The Fox has home track advantage but comes back to 1200m from 1400m. That 1400m run saw her place in the HKJC on Cup Day when off speed and worked home really well late in the piece. Not the best of overall records, but she’s sneaky flying and will be strong late.

2025 The Meteorite Speed Map
He’s drawn wide but Jigsaw will speed across from out there to lead, and I dare say Klabel will box seat. Hedged and Watchme Win look the second pair and a decision has to be made with Arkansaw Kid, whether to press on or opt for cover.
