The SA Carnival wraps up this Saturday at Morphettville, headlined by The Goodwood (1200m), where the market says it will be an open contest.
Down below is a speed map, runner preview and $100 betting strategy for The Goodwood 2026.
The Goodwood 2026 Runner Preview:
1. Rey Magnerio: SCR
2. Enriched: Crazy to think this guy is second topweight in a Group l, which probably speaks volumes of the quality of the race. On current form, I’d say no, but he doesn’t need to improve too much to be a contender.
3. Grand Larceny: Got a 12/10 ride to win the John Hawkes to quality for this race. Will need a similar ride from the gate here and I’m happy to just watch.
4. Desert Lightning: Didn’t do a bad job in the Hareeba but just think he might be wanting a touch further now.
5. Watchme Win: Watchme Win commands respect. Andrew Gluyas has this horse humming at present, being runner up in both runs back, the latest in the John Hawkes when driving hard late from off speed but had to settle for a second to Grand Larceny. He’ll be strong late. Just depends where he gets to in the run.
6. Super Smink: Wanted to find her, but for mine, she didn’t do enough in the Sangster.
7. Tycoon Star: Too good for them in the Tobin Bronze but was out of trouble, albeit wide, and did have J Mac steering. Tricky map, harder, and for mine is really poorly weighted. He goes through to the keeper.
8. Recon: Would not shock me if he won. Start and a beating in the Hareeba, and was impressive in doing so. He will get good cover and launch late, and can easily win.
9. Sghirripa: Seen better days.
10. Meridius: Reckon he has eyes on the Stradbroke but will be very strong late and seems to be flying this prep. One for exotics.
11. Power Beau: Fast early…not so much late, and will struggle.
12. Midtown Boss: Midtown Boss ran fourth in the Irwin from several weeks back. He got back in the run and was held up at times but didn’t mind the way he finished his race off in defeat behind Super Smith. Dangerous if he can be within range and looks to be freshened right up with this race in mind.
13. Flying For Fun: Flying For Fun…Bryce Heys deserves a hug. He had all the sick beats with Spieth when trying to win a Group l, then fast forward to two weeks, he had to watch this girl have zero luck in the straight before it was too late, just missing. That is the way to ride her to run 1200m, cold and for luck. If she gets it, she goes awfully close here.
14. New York Lustre: Did a good job in the John Hawkes but this looks harder.
15. Talkanco: She’s dangerous. Loved the way she kept chasing in The Quokka and maps to get a suck run just off speed. She can win.
16.Extragalactic: Is it too soon for her? Maybe. But she looks a rocket who will launch late. Hopefully the gate can be used to advantage.

Sghirripa and New York Lustre, I think, are the front pair to lead. Tycoon Star and Power Beau will look to come across from wide draws. Enriched should settle in a good spot and I think they’d like to have Rey Magnerio a lot closer vs The Quokka.
