The fifth and final major at Rosehill this Saturday is The Galaxy (1100m), with the race looking quite intriguing on paper.

Down below is a speed map, runner preview and $100 betting strategy for the 2025 The Galaxy.

2025Β The Galaxy Runner Preview:

1. Mazu: Didn’t do a bad job in the Challenge after being wide throughout and wasn’t disgraced in the Lightning. I’ve seen worse $41 shots and gets a huge upgrade with Hugh Bowman taking over.

2. Uncommon James: Ran well in the Challenge, first up after a long break. Condition just gave way late. Fitter, kind map, he’ll run honestly again…just think he lacks the class.

3. I Am Me: Got the A1 run in transit last time in the Challenge and ran a close up third, but did have his chance. Has a beaut map once again and 1100m at Rosehill is her sweet spot. But just not sure how well she is going.

4. Lady Laguna: I reckon she is a big price. 1100m is on the short side for her but she maps to get a perfect run in transit behind the hot speed and she’ll be strong late. Think she is clear overs IMO.

5. Jedibeel: Jedibeel is a horse I have had earmarked for this race for a couple of months and after the way he has trialled, then won first up, I am not dropping off. He resumed with a big win at WFA in the Challenge, getting the suck run in behind before angling clear and knuckled down with purpose late to win and win well. He’s humming, he likes the Rosehill 1100m, genuine…only runs well I say.

6. Growing Empire: This looks chips in for Growing Empire to get the Group l before heading to stud. J Mac on, hard fit, away from the A grade sprinters and back to a bending track. I keep waiting for him to be ridden with a sit and have a bunny to chase, but they keep riding him forward. Hopefully he gets a patient steer and can finish over the top for sure.

7. Dragonstone: Okay in the Challenge but he is not up to these.

8. Front Page: He has run so well in this race previously and looks like he will again, especially if he can find the fence, lead, and only run well at odds for mine. He’ll be a must for exotics I say and is overs.

9. Ostraka: Jury is well and truly out on him after two plain runs to start the prep and for mine, he’s not troubling this lot.

10. Estriella: Has been kept on ice since an ordinary return in the Oakleigh Plate, when ridden with a sit. I think if ridden with more intent, she is clearly good enough to threaten and for mine, she is a big price.

11. Briasa: He’s a nice horse, but gate 15, first up, Rosehill 1100m…he’s going to have to be one of the best in the country to overcome the set up and win. Hard pass and keen to oppose.

12. Eagle Nest: Got front end control in the Maurice McCarten last week and was too good. Different gravy here, not for me.

13. Private Harry: Private Harry is a good horse, but a favourite for The Galaxy? Gee whiz, not overly sure. But, beware the unbeaten horse. You don’t know how good they are til they’re beaten. He hasn’t raced since The Sunlight during the Magic Millions Carnival where he made a mess of them. His trial work has been electric, he looks primed, can clearly win…but just too short for me.

14. Commemorative: Commemorative has got that win on the board, her confidence is up and she can go on with it. That win came two weeks ago in the Wenona Girl where she got a beaut ride just off the speed before angling for clear air and knuckled down with real purpose late to win and win well. She can take this out and win again.

15. Time To Boogie (First Emergency): Got the right run in transit last week and just missed. Not for me here.

2025Β The Galaxy $100 Betting Strategy:

$20 Win/$80 Place Growing Empire

Group l Strategy Outlay: $4450
Group l Strategy Return: $2352.5

2025Β The Galaxy Speed Map

Think the tempo will be quite genuine here, as you’d expect being a Galaxy. Front Page and Private Harry look the main two. Eagle Nest will be handy, and what do they do with Estriella. Do they force the issue, go forward, or opt for a sit? Growing Empire should lob into a beaut spot.
