A strong field has been assembled for the Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) this Saturday at Randwick, where unbeaten filly Agarwood heads betting.

2025 Silver Shadow Stakes Runner Preview:
1. Within The Law: I think class can get Within The Law home. She was an iron filly as a juvenile, going right through the Summer/Autumn and was rarely far away. She should be quite strong late at the end of 1200m, maps to stalk the speed and be strong at the end.
2. Memo: Memo is a Peter Snowden trained filly that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since the Percy Sykes where she looked a tired horse and didn’t really get involved behind Tempted. Looks to have trialled up very well for the return and should be strong late.
3. Savvy Hallie: Don’t think she beat much first up at Newcastle last Thursday but she returned with a bang, making a mess of her rivals. She was up to this level in the Autumn so keen to see how she goes off a first up bang.
4. Agarwood: Hate…absolutely hate horses that win by a space in trials and are ridden right out. To me, I am treating her as second, even third up. The two trials have seen her ridden right out and run time. Wound up to go. She can win without me.
5. Open Secret: Clear excuses first up when pulling up post race and coughing. But, I don’t think she is up to these.
6. Queen Of Clubs: She’s going to get better over 1400m+ but this will feel like 1400m+ with the track and the way it is, and a positive lead is J Mac booked. She’ll get back but be strong at the end.
7. Wootton Lass: Wootton Lass is a talented filly for John Sargent that resumes. She hasn’t raced since The Championships in the Autumn when down the track in the Percy Sykes. Been given a good break and her trial work to get ready has been very good, so watch the market.
8. Change My Address: Little pocket rocket that resumes for John Sargent and seemingly has a good racing style but I just think she lacks the class.
9. Zumbo: She could have resumed in the Highway but the stable think she can measure up here. 2/2 to start her career and has looked to trial up strongly for the return. Just not quite sure she is up to these.
10. Spice Prawn: Down the track at Warwick Farm on Wednesday and doubt she backs up.
11. Nullabor Jane: Would be a good thing in a maiden. This is a bridge too far.

Wootton Lass and Nullabor Jane look a couple of speedy types but given the way she has trialled, Agarwood will be taking no prisoners from the front it appears. Open Secret should settle handy and I suspect Savvy Hallie will press forward from a wide gate.
