The feature race at Seymour this Sunday is the Seymour Cup (1600m), where the market suggests it is an open contest.
Down below is a speed map, runner preview and $100 betting strategy for 2026 Seymour Cup.
2026 Seymour Cup Runner Preview:
1. Regal Zeus: Had complete front end control on a leaders track last time and now up to the mile with more front end pressure…hard against him.
2. Relentless Voyager: SCR
3. Detonator Jack: 2000m back to the mile I find interesting but he’s racing really well at present and he will be strong late off a good tempo. Leading contender I say.
4. Al Duca: Tried his guts out in the Gold Nugget at Ballarat but just found one better. Good racing style, tough, he commands respect.
5. Doctor Askar: Better suited over further so suspect he may need the run.
6. Immediacy: Thought he was excellent at Flemington in what I think will be a decent form race. Like him up in trip, he’ll park off a good speed and be effective late. Good each way speck.
7. Lim’s Saltoro: Had the pattern in his corner when third to Regal Zeus in the race mentioned above. Happy to risk him here.
8. Magnaspin: Dangerous with his best but suspect he may need the run.
9. Wymark: Good return but think he might want one more and a rise to 2000m.
10. Statuario: Needs more racing/ground.
11. Storm Leopard: Too bad to be true at Flemington last time and the vet confirmed with EIPH. He can bounce back big time here.
12. Justadeel: Very plain at Flemington last time and for mine, can’t be trusted at the moment.
13. Saganti: First up and will need the run I dare say.
14. Black Storm: First up and think he needs a touch easier.
15. Ocean Beyond (First Emergency): SCR
16. New York Hurricane (Second Emergency): Looks outclassed.
17. My Brother’s Keeper (Third Emergency): Sneaky good at Caulfield last time but needs it easier.

2026 Seymour Cup Speed Map
Regal Zeus led throughout at Caulfield last time so I suspect he takes it up. Black Storm will come across from a wide gate and land on speed as well and with a few others likely to push on, I suspect a genuine tempo.
