The feature race at Seymour this Sunday is the Seymour Cup (1600m), where a quality field has been assembled.
Down below is a speed map, runner preview and $100 betting strategy for the 2025 Seymour Cup.
2025 Seymour Cup Runner Preview:
1. Alenquer: Just think he needs more racing, more time and more ground. Not for me.
2. Charterhouse: Got a dream run in transit at Sandown and took advantage to wear them down and win. Harder here, tricky map…can’t entertain her.
3. El Rocko: Just did too much work on speed in the Sandown Stakes but was still game in defeat I thought behind Evaporate. Looks the leader and will give a stack of cheek.
4. Saint George: Stack of positive gear changes re his feet tell me the horse is flying. Jumpout work has been solid enough and although better suited at further, class is going to carry him a long way.
5. Molly Bloom: Molly Bloom should prove hard to beat for Chris Waller after placing in the Stocks at The Valley. She was ridden a treat by J Mac and loomed to win but just lacked the change up speed late. Whether she wants 2000m, not sure, but the bigger track suits and third up, is hard fit.
6. Cote Atlantique: Didn’t think he did a bad job at Sandown behind Evaporate but suspect he just lacks the killer blow to put these away.
7. Hard To Cross: Surprised he is still in work given the work he did at Sandown when leading and tiring late behind Charterhouse. To me, that was an end of prep run, so I can’t entertain him here.
8. The Pendragon: Ran his race in patches behind Evaporate at Sandown but through the line, he wasn’t too bad. 1600m should be fine and he has upside to come. He’s in the mix.
9. Harmonious Senora: Didn’t mind her finale in the Gold Nugget at Ballarat but just not sure she is up to this level.
10. Distrustful Award: Better suited at 2000m+ I suspect…maybe a race like the Moe Cup? Kyneton Cup maybe? Not here.
11. Farhh Flung: He’s gone from being a cat to a winner. He won at Sandown last start, but it was more or less a barrier trial. Maps well, he’s in the mix…but I can’t back.
12. Liberami: Sneaky good return behind King Zephyr at Sandown but needs it easier.
13. Al Duca: SCR
14. Castle On High: SCR
15. All Kinds Of Folk: SCR

2025 Seymour Cup Speed Map
The two speed runners are drawn wide, Al Duca and El Rocko. The latter should come across and lead, and he does like to roll in front, so that should ensure a reasonable tempo.
