The Sale Cup (1600m) headlines Sunday’s meeting at Sale, with an open betting market suggesting a competitive edition of the feature race.
Below is our speed map, runner-by-runner preview and $100 betting strategy for the 2026 Sale Cup.
2026 Sale Cup Runner Preview:
1. Pinstriped: SCR
2. Freedom Rally: Another that loves getting his toe in and the recent jumpout was very good. With the rain, he’s a knockout hope.
3. Enxuto: SCR
4. Doctor Askar: SCR
5. Ten Commandments: Been up longer than Ron Jeremy but is holding his form pretty well I find and with rain about, clearly commands respect.
6. Aztec Ruler: Think he’s sneaky going well, but reckon he needs it a fraction easier and the gate makes things tricky.
7. Charterhouse: SCR
8. El Rocko: Very dangerous if he gets front end control but just think he might need another run or two before finding his best.
9. Makdane: Like him back to the mile and getting his toe in…just think he may need the paddock.
10. Bon Mistress: Reckon she’s flying for something at 2000m. Prefer to watch her here.
11. Haaricane: Super win at Ballarat last time but staying at the mile is the knock.
12. All Business: Think she’s going well but needs it easier.

2026 Sale Cup Speed Map
El Rocko loves to control and roll from the front so I suspect he leads this field up. Makdane likely lobs outside him, with Ten Commandments a possibility of landing the 1/1. Tempo should be pretty genuine.
