I can’t find an early leader here. There is no speed. Think It Over potentially leads? Buckaroo had shown speed in trials but was back last in the Apollo. Military Mission is a GaiBott horse but they have been riding him back with success. There is no speed. Maybe Bois D’Argent?

2024 Ranvet Stakes Runner Preview:

1.Think It Over: Think It Over is a star for Kerry Parker and he’s not a giant killer. He’s won enough races to say he is a giant and with no Fangirl, he’s one of the big stars. Great ride by Nash helped him win the Verry Elleegant at Randwick, cutting back inside before angling wider into clear air to finish best. 2000m no issue and with upside/improvement, rates highly.

2.Military Mission: Military Mission is a beauty and he’s going to take beating. He resumed two weeks ago in the Randwick City Stakes and he was very good from off the speed, closing off with purpose late in the piece behind Serpentine. Not sure he runs here vs Manion Cup, but if he runs here, I say he’s a first four threat.

3.Buckaroo: I love Buckaroo and am happy to be in his corner here. I am a big fan of this horse and he confirmed his trial work, finishing off the race with real purpose late in the piece behind Fangirl in the Apollo. Dodged the Verry Elleegant to be kept on ice for this, he looks spot on and I don’t see the trip being an issue at all. Hard to beat.

4.Zeyrek: Zeyrek is one I can see pinching a first four spot at a price. He resumed in the Newcastle Stakes where he pretty much had another barrier trial. He got back off the speed and for mine, he was trucking into the contest but when it came to getting clear, it didn’t eventuate and gee it was an ugly watch. Fitter, up in trip, he’s one for wider exotics.

5.Bois D’Argent: He did more than enough first up in the Randwick City Stakes behind a solid stayer in Serpentine. He is one horse who I think could slide forward…I doubt he wins, but if you are talking from a price angle, he is overs.

6.Via Sistina: High class Irish mare that makes her Australian debut for Chris Waller. Her overall overseas form is solid, but the last start second to King Of Steel, that reads A1, and no shock that J Mac chooses to ride her. The gate is tricky, she may be last…I am not 100% sold on her just yet and with that, I think she’s a risk.

7.Place Du Carousel: Her last start was the Arc so that alone tells you the class this girl has. Down the track in that race but did win nice races leading in so she has class/quality in her own right. Prefer to watch her though at this stage and just wait and see what the market does.

8.Riff Rocket: If he runs here, he’s hard to beat. He tried hard in the Australian Guineas but just lacked the required change up speed and for mine, was already looking like a horse wanting more ground, which he gets here, and maps perfect from the gate. Right in the mix.
