The first of the majors at Randwick this Saturday is the Randwick Guineas (1600m) where three time Group l winner Broadsiding dominates betting.
Down below is a speed map, runner preview and $100 betting strategy for the 2025 Randwick Guineas.
2025ย Randwick Guineas Runner Preview:
1. Broadsiding: Broadsiding is a class animal and is clearly hard to beat off the back of his Hobartville win. He got into a dream spot just off the speed and once he landed in a plum spot, he was arrogant late the way he put them away to win and win well. He’ll be around the mark…just seems on the short side.
2. Swiftfalcon: Swiftfalcon is a very good horse and I think he’ll take a power of beating, especially if he can settle closer. He was dragged back to last in the Hobartville and while he was back and never a threat, he went like a rocket late when second to Broadsiding. I think he has the potential to be a better horse than Broadsiding and he has more upside/improvement I dare say.
3. Linebacker: The talent is there. The conviction to be a race horse is not there 100%. Didn’t do a bad job in the Eskimo Prince before a midfield effort in the Hobartville where things didn’t go to plan. Positive ride, jockey upgrade, I think he’s a big improver.
4. China Sea: China Sea is an improver up in trip despite having eyes on the Rosehill Guineas/Derby. He got back off the speed in the Hobartville and just lacked the change up speed but kept finding the line in a solid enough return. I doubt he’s good enough to win but he can run top four.
5. Firm Agreement: Paraded with good condition to come in the Hobartville and ran accordingly. Wait until he gets to 2000m+.
6. Depth Of Character: I have had a picture of him on the toilet door for some time, but after getting beaten in a weak midweek race at Warwick Farm, that picture has been removed. He’s not up to these.
7. Our Benefactor: Our Benefactor is a talented animal for Bevan Laming. Market said he was ready to rock and roll when resuming a few weeks back and when a Laming is the trainer, money on…good chance it will win and yes, Our Benefactor let down with a brilliant finale to win. Upside/improvement, he’s one to watch.
8. Tenbury Wells: Now why is this horse $201+. I can mark some others here at that price. Needed the run fresh in the Hobartville but I can see a scenario where he leads these, walks them and with the Blinkers on, he’ll sharpen right up and be strong late. Does he win? No, but he can pinch top four and for mine, is just a silly price.
9. Aeliana: Thought she did a very good job in the Hobartville when closing off to finish third. Reckon she has eyes on the Vinery but should run very well regardless.
2025ย Randwick Guineas $100 Betting Strategy:
Race in two for mine. $60 Win Broadsiding and $40 Win on Swiftfalcon.
Group l Strategy Outlay: $4000
Group l Strategy Return: $2251
2025 Randwick Guineas Speed Map
There is no designated leader here from what I can see. Linebacker can lead, as seen in the Eskimo Prince. But do they want to teach him to settle/relax? Tenbury Wells can settle handy. Perhaps Our Benefactor can come across from the wide gate.
