2022 Randwick Guineas Runner Preview
1. Anamoe: Anamoe is the one they have to beat, but I will say I don’t think he’s anywhere near his best when racing on wet ground. Class got him home in the Hobartville IMO, helped by a 12/10 by Tommy Berry. If this track was a firm surface, he’d be a genuine $1.50 chance. The wet track brings the others closer to him, but I still think he gets home on class.
2. Converge: I think he’s come back really well. I could have him totally wrong, but I just don’t think he’s good on wet ground. He has brilliance, but the two runs back have been on wet ground and he hasn’t shown brilliance. He’s run well, and likely runs well again. But doubt he beats Anamoe.
3. Hilal: He was a bludger in the Spring but I think he’s come back a better horse. He pushed Anamoe hard in the Hobartville and just missed. Proven on multiple occasions at the Randwick mile and likes wet ground. He’s right in the mix.
4. Coastwatch: Coastwatch, I think, can measure up. Plenty of intent first up in the Autumn Stakes when ridden positively, putting the pressure on Decent Raine and in the end, his class got him home. He’ll roll forward here, he’ll be out of trouble and the stable is the #1 Grand Final stable in the business.
5. Forgot You: SCR
6. Ranch Hand: I’m fascinated by him being aimed at a Guineas over the mile. IMO, he’s a 1200m horse, maybe even a 1000m horse. Has been given A1 runs in both efforts this time but has failed to finish it off. I can’t possibly have him.
7. Military Expert: He’s okay on wet ground, he’s in winning form and looks to get a very soft lead. $21+ for him looks a touch of overs. He hasn’t got the ability or class of Anamoe, but he has the map in his corner.
8. Raging Bull: Wide no cover in the Hobartville and tired late. Loves getting his toe and a good second up record…but I think he wants 2000m+.
9. Royalzel: He’ll have admirers because he gets the Blinkers back on and he saves his best for wet ground. Even allowing for those two, he’s just simply not going well enough.
10. War Eternal: War Eternal is certainly in the mix as a knockout chance. I thought he was a definite pass mark fresh in the Eskimo Prince behind Paulele. He then dropped back to benchmark company where he was trucking in the run and once Collett clicked him up, away he went and he was dominant. Wouldn’t shock me if he won.
11. Sword Point: Progressive youngster for the Waller camp but I’d say he has eyes on the Rosehill Guineas/Derby and is using this as a prep run.
12. Sinba: This is the one from proper left field I like. He is a dead set line chaser this guy. Loved the way he found the line to win fresh at Newcastle and he was even better on the Kenso track last time. I think he’s a serious animal and wouldn’t shock me at all if he won.
13: Sea Treasures: Sneaky Derby prospect maybe? Got a mile out of his ground at Kembla but liked the way he finished off behind a handy one in Character. Doubt he wins, or runs top four, but look for him to find the line.

The main bet is Anamoe. $80 Win on him. Then I’ll have two $10 savers, those being War Eternal and Sinba. Both are lightly raced with good upside and progression.
