The fillies stepped out in the Furious Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on Saturday. Some ran well, some disappointed, others were inconclusive. Here are our ratings for the Furious Stakes.
1. I Am A Star:
Finished: 5th
Summary: She had the charmed run behind the tempo and presented as if she’d be a winning chance, but just lacked the killer punch when it mattered.
Rating: 7/10
2. Honesty Prevails:
Finished: 10th
Summary: Jumped okay and settled near I Am A Star but got shuffled back and never really recovered in a class of race that probably is beyond her.

3. My Country:

4. Quick Feet:
Finished: 6th
Summary: Had a soft run on the fence behind the speed. Got a gap soon after straightening and sprinted for about 100m before feeling the pinch late.
Rating: 5/10
5. Bacarella:
Finished: 2nd
Summary: Pressed forward to lead without crossing. Shot clear and looked home with about 200m but 1200m on a heavy track just found her out and was grabbed late in a very good effort.
Rating: 8/10
6. Chipanda:
Finished: 7th
Summary: Got a bit fired up behind the gates and probably ran her race there. Got back to the last on the rail and worked home okay without being brilliant.

7. Foxplay:
Finished: 1st
Summary: Sat midfield with cover before Bowman peeled her out. Looked as if she was going to run a solid second, but a combination of her surging and the runner up tiring saw her got the win.

8. Awoke:
Finished: 11th
Summary: Inconclusive run. Got back, wide with cover, and to be fair, as good as Avdulla was, this wasn’t one of his best. In saying that, she didn’t really do a great deal when clear.

9. Rebel Miss:
Finished: 9th
Summary: Eased back to get three wide cover but never looked comfortable IMO and just plodded away. Not up to this class.

10. Overstep:
Finished: 8th
Summary: Sat three wide on speed for the trip and that was the end of her. She is best when she has cover and when that couldn’t happen, she turned it up.

11. Rather Sweet:
Finished: 12th
Summary: Led on the fence but was beaten off as soon as they straightened. Back to the midweeks for her.
Rating: 1/10
12. Global Glamour:
Finished: 3rd
Summary: One of the runs of the race. Had three wide cover before getting shunted wider on the turn and looked as if she was going to run last but surged hard to get third. Outstanding effort.

13. I’m Imogen:
Finished: 13th
Summary: Back and wide throughout; never looked likely. Not up to this level and is best at the bush meetings.
Rating: 1/10
14. Smart Amelia:
Finished: 4th
Summary: Followed the winner into the race and though she lacked the turn of foot, her last 150m was excellent. Could be a sneaky hope for an Oaks maybe?
