Punters haven’t forgotten the impressive debut performance of Sarajevo back in April and have rushed to support the John O’Shea trained galloper in early markets for this weekend’s Listed fea-ture, The Rosebud.

Opening up at joint favourite with Nayeli at $3.00 in early markets, Sarajevo has continued to firm since and is now into $2.60 with Nayeli holding firm.

The amount of early support for Sarajevo has seen other leading contenders in the even ease, in-cluding Inkling ($6 – $8), Better Land ($6.50 – $7.50) and Scissor Kick ($7 – $8.50).

The Rosebud Form Guide

Special Offer: $250 FREE BET – Sportsbet

Special Offer 2: $250 FREE BET – Ladbrokes

Special Offer 3: $300 FREE BET – Luxbet

1. 1. INKLING – J Parr (7) 59kgs

Made it two wins from three starts with a professional win over Sheer Style where from a good draw, he sat second before running the leader down with a 1.3 lengths to spare on the line. Continues to make a good impression and although the son of Duporth rises a further 1kg here and jumps form the second to widest gate, he cannot be dismissed on his efforts to date.

Odds: $7.50

2. NAYELI – T Berry (2) 58kgs

Gai Waterhouse’s well bred filly won her first two starts, including an impressive 2.3 length win the G3 Chairman’s Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield, before, as a 7/2 chance, leading and then capitulating in the G1 Blue Diamond Stakes when finishing twelfth behind Earthquake. Spelled since that effort in late February and judging by her two recent trials, of which she has won both in good style, she has taken great benefit from the break. Drawn well and will be in prominent position from the jump.

Odds: $3.20

3. BOLD CIRCLE – J Lloyd (5) 58kgs

Chased home Law and Mohave when third on debut in the Listed Breeder’s Plate (1000m) before settling in a good spot from a nice draw and proving to strong for Sheer Style and subsequent Magic Millions winner Unencumbered, in a 2yo Plate at Rosehill over 1100m. The Bernardini colt hasn’t raced since that win, ten months ago now, and trainer David Payne hasn’t produced him at the public trials so it’s hard to tip him with any confidence but he showed plenty of potential at his two starts to date.

Odds: $17.00

4. SARAJEVO – J McDonald (3) 56kgs

The Goldophin owned colt made a low key debut at a mid-week Kensington Maiden during the Sydney autumn carnival but as a 10/9 favourite, big things were still expected of him and he didn’t disappoint. Settling at the tail of the field from a wide draw, he rounded up his nine competitor in good style to win by 1.3 lengths, defeating Burning Passion – who won his only start since at Canterbury on Wednesday. Tipped out straight after that win with better races in mind, the son of Lonhro looks set to deliver judging by his two barrier trials, the most recent of which he won with plenty up his sleeve.

Odds: $2.70

5. SCISSOR KICK – T Angland (6) 56kgs

Redoute’s Choice colt who didn’t handle the soft track on debut back in March and was immediate-ly spelled. Returned to racing just over a fortnight ago with a most impressive 2.8 length win in a Canterbury Restricted race over 1250m where from gate three, he sat on the speed before extending well late to defeat Crooked Blaze. Steps up in class and weight but couldn’t have done more than what he did last start and deserves his shot.

Odds: $8.50

6. SHERO I AM – Chris Waller (1) 54kgs

Commenced his career in New Zealand by running sixth of nine in a Listed race before winning a Matamata Maiden by a head and rounding out his initial campaign by finishing midfield in the G1 Sire’s Produce after setting the pace. Has joined the Waller stable since and his only trial in readiness for his first start in four months. Draws the inside but on his New Zealand form, happy to see what he can produce here.

Odds: $34.00

7. BETTER LAND – K McEvoy (8) 54kgs

Peter Moody took his $400k son of Shamardal to Sale in April for his debut where as the 5/4 favou-rite, he duly recorded a comfortable 3 length win on wet track. Spelled up in Queensland during the winter and looked good taking out a 1000m Doomben barrier trial just over two weeks ago. His dam was the exciting but ill-fated Amelia’s Dream and if he has inherited a portion of her ability, he’ll have a bright future.

Odds: $7.50

8. ECHO PRINCE – T Clark (4)

Made his debut for Gai Waterhouse at Hawkesbury three week ago starting the 11/4 favourite in the Maiden event.
He draw well and was well placed but gave his connections and supporters plenty of worries int he straight before getting the bob in on the line. Needed to see him win that race a lot easier if to be winning here.

Odds: $34.00

RACE OVERVIEW

Reckon connections have been waiting since April to get Sarajevo back on the track and they’ll have him ready for this race first up. With Nayeli, who has drawn immediately inside of Sarajevo, expect he may not get back as far as he did on debut when drawing wide. Nayeli needs to give him 2kgs and all bar Inkling more weight still however, she will be able to set the pace here and should be in it for a long way. Like Sarajevo’s team, would think Peter Moody is looking forward to producing Better Land again after he too was tipped out after an impressive Maiden win. Look for him to be finishing hard along with Inkling who, despite the 59kgs, might be better again having to chase.

  1. SARAJEVO
  2. NAYELI
  3. INKLING
  4. BETTER LAND
