Second to last race of the day sees some of the country’s best mare line up for seven furlong trip. Early favourite is Mosheen $3.50 (in from $4.00) who was back to her best last start winning the G2 Blazer Stakes at Flemington but she’ll have some stiff competition in what will be yet another fantastic race on a tremendous day’s racing.

1. MOSHEEN – N Hall (1)
She dominated the 3yo fillies during the Autumn winning four of her five starts including three G1 races in succession. She was third up last start and back to her best in winning the Blazer Stakes after sitting up on the pace. Drawn a little wide here today but has the class to negate that obstacle.
Odds: $3.50
2. STREAMA – J Bowman (14)
Smart mare who has won six of her fifteen starts including the G1 AJC Oaks in the Autumn. Returned to racing with a fantastic third behind More Joyous and Miss Marx in the Listed Sheraco Stakes and maybe had the edge of her a second up when holding her position in the run to line finishing sixth (beaten 2.7) in the G2 Premiere. Draws the outside gate and will be nearer to last turning.
Odds: $8.50
3. PEAR TART – C Reith (5)
She blossomed over the Brisbane Winter Carnival winning a Class 3, Group 2 and Group 1 Tatt’s Tiara in succession. Returned to racing with a fair effort in the Premiere Stakes (seventh, beaten 2.9), better for that run and from her good draw today, over a more suitable trip, could be a big improver at odds.
Odds: $21.00
4. RED TRACER – C Brown (3)
Consistent mare who has won nine out of her twenty starts including a last start victory when first up in the G2 Premiere Stakes. Sat off the speed and was too good for Satin Shoes then and from her good draw here today, a repeat performance is definitely on the cards.
Odds: $5.00
5. RASPBERRIES – K McEvoy (13)
Lonhro mare from the Darley stable who was first up when fourth (beaten 1.8), behind Mosheen in the Blazer Stakes (1400m) Looked liked she was going to be right in the finish passing the 200m mark in that race but condition may have told late. Better for that run and should be finishing hard here.
Odds: $11.00
6. HI BELLE – V Duric (12)
She should’ve won when first up in the G2 Let’s Elope Stakes (finished second, beaten ¾ ) and again, not much luck from her wide draw last start when tenth (beaten 3.8) in the Blazer Stakes. Drawn wide again today and will need a change of fortune.
Odds: $21.00
7. MISS STELLABELLE – N Rawiller (1)
Gai Waterhouse runner who comfortably won the Listed Mona Lisa (1350m) at Wyong three starts back and has backed that up with a unlucky fourth in the Listed Tibbie Stakes (won by Nocturnelle who won again last weekend) and, a last start second behind Mosheen in the Blazer. Drawn the fence and sure to make her presence felt here.
Odds: $15.00
8. APPERANCE – J Mott (6)
Darley runner with Guy Walter who made up good ground late in the G2 The Shorts when finishing third (beaten 2) behind Pampelonne and Satin Shoes. Won the G3 Keith Nolan (1600m) last prep, lightly raced and appears to still be on the improve. $15.00 in early markets and might be worth something each-way.
Odds: $15.00
9. REMEMBA HOWIE – C Newitt (10)
Former New Zealander now with the Mick Price stable who has only had the one start in Australia, that was in August in an Open Class race where she finished fifth (beaten 3.9) behind Thy on a Heavy track. Only won three from twenty-four starts and taking on some of the best mares here.
Odds: $67.00
10. SHANNARA – J Winks (8)
She had a short Autumn campaign of four starts that included a fifth in the G3 Doncaster Prelude, fourth in the Emancipation (beaten 0.6) and a long neck second in the Listed Dark Jewel at Scone. First up was didn’t really get warm and better suited this distance and will appreciate the solid pace. Can produce a finish.
Odds: $41.00
11. SOFT SAND – C Williams (2)
Colin Little trained mare who hasn’t had a great deal of luck in running at either of her two starts this time in when finishing fourth in the G3 Sportingbet and at her latest start, when ninth (beaten 2.9) in the Blazer Stakes. Drawn inside here and will get back so she’ll need a change of recent fortune in the run home here but has the ability if that change comes.
Odds: $6.50
12. LUCKY PENNY – G Boss (7)
Keep The Faith mare that won her first three starts before a brief let-up and finishing well down the track in the G3 Cockram Stakes on a Heavy track in August. Obviously has the potential but probably in need of this run first up.
Odds: $15.00
13. NEW BEGINNING – M Zahra (4)
Two starts back she won a BM 80 at Rosehill in good style by 1 ¾ and backed that up at her most recent start with a very good effort (2nd, beaten ½ ) behind Nocturnelle (who won the Listed race at Rosehill on Saturday). On that form, can’t blame connections for having a dip at this race but it is a step up.
Odds: $26.00
14. RAHVEEL – D Oliver (9)
Zabeel mare who has won of her twelve starts and tackles this race first up since May. Her best form is when she gets behind a mile and she should need this one on her way to something longer.
Odds: $51.00
OVERVIEW
Picture Red Tracer getting every chance from her draw and off the back of a very good win first up, she’s good value at $5.00. Mosheen was back to her best last start but a slight concern about taking the $3.50 on offer now given her awkward draw. Couple at value to consider here would be Pear Tart @ $21 (beat Red Tracer home in the Tatt’s Tiara last prep) who will be on the speed today from her draw and Appearance @ $15 who is lightly raced and still open to improvement.
