1. Golden Archer
Was very good when returning from a ten month spell two starts back, winning an Open class event by two.He backed that up at his most recent start by finishing second to the underrated Shanghai Warrior in the Aurie’s Star (Group 3). Jumps up a further 2kg on that run to 58kg today and has drawn a little awkward in eight.
Odds: $3.00
2. Freereturn
Made it two wins on the trot with a last start victory in the Listed Regal Roller here at Caulfield a fortnight ago. He led all the way on that occasion so from his good draw, expect him to follow a similar pattern today.
Odds: $6.50

3. Platelet
Strategic mare who has won here last three starts the most recent, the Listed Sir John Monash in July. Has a great record here winning three (including the Group 3 Thoroughbred Classic) from six starts. Has an awkward draw to contend with.
Odds: $5.50
4. Berringama
A seven year gelding that hasn’t raced in the last 12 months, in fact one start since May 2011. He has picked a tough task here for his comeback.
Odds: $61.00

5. Mr Make Believe
Has a fantastic strike rate this bloke having won nine from seventeen but only two of those wins have come at 1200m. Fancy he’ll need plenty of speed on if he were to spring an upset here but it’ll be more likely that he’ll be looking for a race over 1400/1500m.
Odds: $17.00
6. African Pulse – SCRATCHED

7. Dee ‘n’ Gee
Sydney visitor from the Clarry Connors yard who last prep, won five from seven starts and took his overall record to seven wins from fourteen starts. He does try this horse and from his good draw, will be in the leading horses for most of the race. Clarry has tuned him up with a winning barrier trial at Rosehill on the 21st August.
Odds: $7.00
8. Testarhythm
Five year old who hasn’t had a start since 30 July 2011. Had won three of nine starts up to that stage – all on Heavy and Slow tracks. Should he win, would think he knocks most out of the Quaddie.
Odds: $26.00

9. Glows
Coming off a good third, behind the promising Lady Melksham in the Group 3 Cockram Stakes. Has only missed a place once from nine career starts (and that was a fourth beaten a quarter of a length!) and will push forward from her gate and be ultra competitive again.
Odds: $8.50
10. Rue Maple
An honest mare who always acquits herself well and from pole position will be handy to the leaders throughout. From thirteen starts at Caulfield she’s only recorded the one win however has run second on an amazing seven occasions.
Odds: $6.50

OVERVIEW
Bit of speed here obviously with Glows, Rue Maple and Dee ‘n’ Gee all going forward.Freereturn and Golden Archer just off the speed. Golden Archer’s two runs in have been first class and third up, should be fit enough to handle the 58kgs – at $3.00, he’s the correct price. Dee ‘n’ Gee knows how to win and will get every chance from his good draw. At $7.00 he’s next best with Freereturn and Glows for trifecta players.
