Feature race of the day is a beauty with a capacity field of sixteen Fillies and Mares (plus two emergencies) taking part. It is 5/1 the field with next to nothing separating the top four weighted runners in the race.

1. FILLYDELPHIA – M Cahill (2)
Finished strongly to record a 1-1/4 length win over Join Chiefs in Open (1400m) company in October before missing the start and pulling up lame when 7-1/2 length last to Biggles on November 3rd. Hasn’t raced since and has been allocated 59.5kg.
Odds: $6.00
2. FUNTANTES – D Browne (12)
Gave a great sight and only run down late when second to Morning Captain before sticking on well after racing on-pace to record a short half head third to Jester’s Girl, Bound To Blush in the Listed Fillies and Mares classic a fortnight ago. In solid form and despite drawing wide – again – has to be included among the better hopes.
Odds: $6.50
3. FIRE UP FIFI – R Wiggins (1)
She went for a spell having won five of her seven starts before making ground first up in the Listed Fillies and Mares Classic to finish 2-1/4 length 5th behind Jester’s Girl. She was well backed first up 6/1 into 7/2 so connections were expecting a big effort from her and can only be better for that hit-out.
Odds: $5.50
4. RISK AVERSION – C Munce (9)
She was a touch unlucky when 1-1/4 length 6th behind Pear Tart in the Group 1 Tatt’s Tiara back in June before being spelled. She worked home ok from last when resuming 2-1/2 length 7th behind Jester’s Girl in the Fillies and Mares Classic that was dominated by those on-pace.Better for the run first up and has lethal record second up winning two from three. Extra journey here will suit ideally.
Odds: $6.00
5. JESTER’S GIRL – P Hammersley (8)
She got a lovely run first up in the Fillies and Mares Classic and dug deep late to score a narrow victory first up (at 50/1) over Bound to Blush and Funtantes. Can’t knock last start and drawn to get a nice run again in transit.
Odds: $9.00
6 JASMINKA – (18)
She’s had to runs back from a spell, finishing forth on both occasions, firstly to Golden Trinkets in Open Company and last weekend, to Last Gift in a BM 90. Both of those starts were over 1000m and she’s worked home well in both so the step up to 1300 will be to her favour however, from the widest gate, she’ll be giving them too much of a start.
Odds: $26.00
7. ROSE OF SCOTLAND – L Cassidy (13)
She finished strongly when running second to Brightest (who has been good again since) two starts back before again, running on well for a 1-1/2 length 5th to Sastruga, who led all the way at Rosehill.
Odds: $10.00
8. TUSKEGEE HAWK – M Hellyer (17)
She’s won four of her nine starts for Len Treloar’s stable and tackles this race first up from a spell of twenty-three weeks. Three of her wins have come at 1600m or further and she’ll more than likely need this run and possibly another.
Odds: $41.00
9. DIVINE CITY – J Byrne (6)
She was spelled after 2-1/4 length 5th behind I’m Cool in July. No luck when first up finishing a well beaten 13th behind Saluter at Eagle Farm three weeks ago. Hasn’t missed a place in three second up runs and gets some much needed weight relief. Expect a significant improvement on last start.
Odds: $41.00
10. CUDDLESOME – (4)
Little luck behind Golden Trinkets two starts back before just holding her spot in the run the line when sixth (beaten 2 ¼ lengths) by Jester’s Girl in the Fillies and Mares Classic a fortnight ago. She can take advantage of her draw today and expecting her settling in the first four.
Odds: $10.00
11. PURFECTRESS – G Cooksley (14)
She ran home strongly with big weight (58kgs) to get up in last stride defeating Leica Bita Lippy last start in Restricted Company. No doubting last start was a good effort but taking on some very well performed gallopers here. Nov 24. Won only start this trip. Big weight drop in her favour. Value hope.
Odds: $16.00
12. BINGO ROSE – J Taylor (5)
Despite running six placings from ten starts last preparation, she just couldn’t crack it for a win and, despite drawing well, would be surprised if she won this first up.
Odds: $51.00
13. OUR HUSSEY – (10)
Sent out a 3/1 favourite last start and was close enough on the turn to produce a better finish that what she before finishing fifth (beaten 2.9 lengths) in a BM 80. Big rise in class here and would’ve have had to have won her last start in good style to be seriously considered in this race.
Odds: $41.00
14. SUNSET AFFAIR – J Lloyd (16)
Good finish first up from a spell in Open Company, finishing sixth (beaten 3.8 lengths) behind Players Choice before appreciated the drop in grade and comfortably winning a Class 3 at Doomben last start. Lightly raced and we’re yet to see her reach her full potential. Look for finishing late and at $21.00, might be worth throwing in a trifecta.
Odds: $21.00
15. CLAM CHOWDER – (7)
Hard to include her on her last two starts where she has finished eleventh of thirteen (beaten 5.3 lengths) in a Class Six at Doomben and at her most recent start, an eight length last behind Dream’n’ingnite.
Odds: $61.00
16. PRECIOUS MANDY – E Wilkinson (3)
Spelled after a 6-3/4 length 7th behind Loves A Challenge over 2050m Doomben in June. As expected, in need of the run when resuming 8-1/2 length 7th over 1200m in a Class 3. Will be safely held here.
Odds: $67.00
17. AMALFI DREAMS – G Colless (11)
A former Victorian galloper who was with the Danny O’Brien stable before joining Matthew Dunn who produced him to win by five lengths when first up in Doomben Class 3 last Wednesday. Couldn’t have kicked off his career with new trainer in better fashion but his is a long way off a midweek Class 3.
Odds: $13.00
18. ERVBEFEL – (15)
She had every chance last start when third (beaten half a length) in a Class 2 race at Ipswich. Not good enough for here.
Odds: $101.00
SUMMARY
Keen on Rose Of Scotland being able to run a big race here. The pace of the race will suit, she drops in Weight and there is good form around her with the likes of Sastruga (won four of nine), Brigtest (close second behind Scream Machine last week). Her Trainer Kris Lees, targets these Black Type races with his runners and his rarely far from the mark. Risk Aversion ($6.00) the next best. Can only be better for first up effort where she got back in a race dominated by those up front and going on her Tatt’s Tiara run last prep, she’ll be right in the mix.
