The Danehill Stakes is for 3YO’s over 1200m at Flemington racecourse on Saturday. 1. RUSAMBO
Darley runner who took seven attempts before breaking his maiden status two starts back and immediately followed that win up with another win at his latest start in the Listed McKenzie Stakes (1200m) where his finished well from the tail of the field. Duric is looking to make it three from three onboard the son of Elusive Quality who seems to be a genuine improver.
Odds: $12.00
2. PSYCHIC MICK
Had won three from three in Adelaide before coming across to Victoria and keeping his unbeaten record intact, easily won the Listed Vain Stakes by 3 ¼ on an Heavy track. Sat on pace and was dominate last start. Up the straight, the wider draw may be an advantage.
Odds: $5.00
3. CAMBIASO
Won on debut back in October last year before returning with a three run preparation aimed at the Blue Diamond in the Autumn. Never fired last campaign and has been given a decent spell of seven months. From astute yard and go on debut effort as best guide to chances here.
Odds: $31.00
4. STRALIA
Stratum colt that has won his two career starts, both here at Flemington, to date. Lastest was over 1400m in a 2yo Open Class race where he camped off the speed and beat Dispatch, a Darley runner that has won two from six.
Odds: $17.00
5. PRONTO PRONTO
Ran second to All Too Hard in the VRC Sire’s Produce back in March and returned to racing in Sydney running fourth of five behind the smart She’s A Fox in the Listed Rosebud. Given a month off after her Sydney race and back at home now and from a reasonably draw, can expect a better effort.
Odds: $11.00
6. MAURY
Had won two from three before starting as a 2/1 favourite the Listed Redoute’s Choice Stakes where he finished third behind Wales and Dominant. Finished behind Rusambo and Dominant again when returning from a spell a fortnight ago when ninth of ten in the McKenzie Stakes. Likely leader and we should know by this race which side of the straight, if any, holds an advantage.
Odds: $51.00
7. MURCIELAGA
Has only had won start, a win in a Warnambool Open back in May on a Heavy track. Trainer Michael Moroney hasn’t trialled this son of Testa Rossa leading into this race but any betting moves should be closely monitored.
Odds: $9.00
8. SWIFT EXIT
If the previous runner has little to go on, this son of Choisir, trained by Cranbourne conditioner Shawn Mathrick, has even less. He is a first starter with no public trials as a guide on his ability.
Odds: $61.00
9. SNITZERLAND
Only filly in the race but she just might give the boys a lesson here. Was very impressive when returning to racing in Sydney three weeks ago when she led all the way to record a 1 ¾ win in the San Domenico Stakes at Rosehill. That win built added to increasingly impressive record that includes a win in the Group 3 Breeders Stakes over this course and trip and a second in the Golden Slipper.
Odds: $1.75
OVERVIEW
Can’t go past the filly here and especially from her draw, Oliver will have option to take a sit if the pace is too hot early. Add to this that she’s proven up the Flemington straight and we’ll be lucky to get a better price than the $1.75 currently on offer. Psychic Mick are in winning form and will get his chance and for a bit of value, Cambiaso and Murcielaga could run races fresh.
