Aghh, a chilly and overcast Thursday in Sydney today, and leading Sydney rider Tommy Berry thought best to have a rest day.
He could have had a full book of rides at Wyong.
But, after wanting a down day, he chose not too….after trainer John O’Shea called.
O’Shea saddles the rising star 3YO staying filly COMME BELLA FILLE (Complacent – Danbelle) who looks to be extremely promising.
And, despite having never ridden her before, Berry was made aware of her talents, so he decided he would ride her today.
That is his ONLY ride at Wyong and that alone tells you so many things about her chances.
To unpack who she is, the filly has had 5 race starts to date. Three in New Zealand where she was born and raised, and a pair here.
Her only win was on soft ground at Matamata in NZ, where she won her 1400m maiden comfortably.
And, last start, at Newcastle when just 2nd up from a good spell, she chimed in late to just miss in this grade over 1600m.
Everything about the way she is bred, trained and races suggests this trip today of 2100m will suit her and being 3rd up…well, you do the maths.
The top riders will never take just one ride at a meeting unless it is a gold-standard one. That appears the case here with this filly, Comme Bella Fille.
If you can find $2.10 or better, unload.
At 8:45am this morning she was a tick over evens with palmerbet.com.au.
