Punters have singled out a runner at odds to win Saturday’s Group One Blue Diamond Stakes with solid support for the once $31 chance.
The Final Field for the Blue Diamond was released on Tuesday morning with barriers drawn two hours later and as soon as the barrier draw was conducted punters were quick to smash the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Vinicunca at odds.
Vinicunca opened at $31 following the barrier draw with bookmaker Sportsbet before being turned into $26 almost immediately and punters still thought that was good value heavily backing the filly into her current quote of $8.00.
Vinicunca won on debut at Flemington in the Maribyrnong Plate and returned with a very gallant second in the Blue Diamond Fillies Prelude which arguably looks the best form heading into the race and with her racing pattern of being up on the speed there is no wonder why punters were happy to take the big odds.
Lyre has taken over favouritism in betting at $5.50 with early favourite Loving Gaby under and injury cloud which has seen her drift out to her current price of $6.00 with Athiri next in betting at $8.00.
All-in favourite Brooklyn Hustle has been the notable drifter, she was once $4.50 in markets and is now out to $12.
