Punters quick to back one in the Winter Stakes

Cotehele has been the early firmer with Ladbrokes.com.au for the feature race at Randwick this Saturday, the Winter Stakes (1400m).

The John O’Shea trained gelding ran two weeks ago in the Civic and was good in defeat given he was several weeks between runs when fifth. Fitter, can settle closer, he appeals and the market agrees. He’s now the $4.50 favourite, in from $6.50.

Brigantine opened the $4.80 favourite but has eased to $5.50. They are the lone runners at single figures, with next best being Civic Stakes winner Ucalledit, rock solid at $10.
