Performer is the short priced favourite in Saturday's Canonbury Stakes
Performer could well be the new Golden Slipper favourite after Saturday if he is to resume with a win in the Canonbury Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill.
The Chris Waller trained colt is first up after debuting with a brilliant win in the Breeders Plate. His latest trial win was just fair to the eye but that hasn’t stopped the boys and girls at Sportsbet.com.au opening him the $1.50 favourite for this weekend, keeping in mind he is an $8 chance in Golden Slipper markets, behind Sunlight at $6.
Exceltic is on debut for Gary Portelli and has already been backed, into $4.60 from $4.80. There has also been interest for another first starter, Stratosphere, into $6 after opening $6.50.
