A strong field has been assembled for the PB Lawrence Stakes (1400m) this Saturday at Caulfield, where the depth looks strong.
Down below is a speed map, runner preview and $100 betting strategy for the 2025 PB Lawrence Stakes.
2025 PB Lawrence Stakes Runner Preview:
1. Private Eye: Private Eye is a class animal for Joe Pride that resumes. He probably isn’t the horse he once was, but he looks to have trialled up really well for the return and 1400m fresh I like for a horse who does seem he may not be the star sprinter he once was.
2. Here To Shock: Here To Shock is a Team Hayes trained gelding that is first up, having not raced since the Canterbury Stakes when leading and giving a very strong kick from the front but just couldn’t quite get there when second to Royal Patronage. Very reliable horse that has trialled well and the stable loves to target this race.
3. Attrition: Good horse on his day but first up, I don’t think he’s here to play.
4. Pinstriped: His time in the spotlight was this time last year. He would love the rain to hit on the day and get more juice in this track because he is quite effective.
5. Desert Lightning: Moody has come out and said the horse may want longer trips this time in, so with that in mind, I can’t have him.
6. Evaporate: Clearly hard to beat. Looks to have jumped out really well for the return and you look at his Autumn form… gee it reads well for this. Market will be fascinating.
7. Sepals: Solid horse for an in-form camp… but that Victorian 3YO form from the Autumn looks very suspect. That said, he jumped out like a rocket at Mornington. Watch betting.
8. Moira: Moira is flying for Chris Waller and Iβm confident she wins this and then can stamp herself for the Memsie. She resumes after just one run in the Autumn, where she was far from disgraced in the Doncaster. Trial work in Sydney has been elite and the lead for me with her is D Lane, who is the #1 Melbourne rider for Waller, is riding this girl.
9. Anisette: Could surprise but happy to watch.
10. Full Count Felicia: SCR
11. Yellow Sam: Hard-fit in-form mare that should run an honest race but doubt she measures up.

2025 PB Lawrence Stakes Speed Map
The Hayes boys hold the key here with speed. Here To Shock looks the likely leader but Evaporate has been sharp in jumpout work, so do they push on and hold, or opt for a sit? And then Private Eye has been going forward recently.
