Bad luck comes in many forms, and trainers know just what they hate to see.
Bad barriers.
So spare a thought for Scone trainer Cameron Crockett today. He rightfully expected to walk away with a truckload of cash from the horses he had in at the Showcase Scone.
And as soon as Mark Zahra tested negative, meaning the races were on, Crockett rubbed his hands with glee.
Then this happened.
Race 1: BLACKROCK PEARL drew gate 14. CONFINEMENT drew gate 16.
Race 3: FOX SPIRIT drew gate 15 β so he scratched it.
Race 5: STEP ON FIRE drew gate 16 β so he scratched it.
Race 8: BARBASS drew gate 15 β so he scratched it.
They are all trained by him. Unbelievable bad luck at the barrier draw. He left Confinement in, probably because itβs the topical tip of the year.
Perhaps if Lady Luck can be that unkind to Cam one day, she can shine brightly today on the omen tip, Confinement, who is currently $4.50 with Sportsbet.
