A strong field has been assembled for the Mildura Cup (1400m) on this afternoon where a near capacity field has been assembled.

2025 Mildura Cup Runner Preview:
1. Rubamos: First up since being outclassed and far from disgraced in the Cummings Stakes during the Adelaide Carnival. Trial to get ready was good…I think back to 1400m is a tick, he can win without surprising.
2. Dubai Poet: Hasn’t raced since the Wangoom at The Bool where he tried his guts out but just couldn’t quite get there behind Dashing. Tick over trial was good, he’ll slide across…hard to beat.
3. Wild Imagination: Good, tough campaigner but just not sure he is sharp enough at 1400m to beat these.
4. Military Expert: Think he is the each way play. He was near the speed at Sandown last time and just felt the pinch late behind Hughes. Think on a firmer deck, with front end control, he’ll take running down.
5. Favourite Child: Did a really good job fresh at Caulfield behind stablemate Sixteen Reasons over 1100m. Fitter and up to 1400m, good upside to come, she appeals.
6. Hard To Cross: Didn’t do a bad job in defeat behind Cafe Millennium at Flemington and is hard fit now, plus the stable is the best when it comes to Mildura. Leading chance.
7. Harmonious Senora: She has talent for sure, but I can’t see her threatening at 1400m.
8. Maracourt: Stablemate of the favourite who let down with purpose to win at Murray Bridge last time. I think the price gap between he and the stablemate is too much, so he commands respect.
9. Easy Campese: He ran second to Maracourt in the race mentioned above, landing on speed and he tried hard but couldn’t quite see it through. Good racing style, he’ll be a threat.
10. Metrical: SCR
11. Saint Lazare: Not up to these.
12. Classy Kenny: He was dominant last Saturday at Murray Bridge but this looks too hard.
