TAB has opened markets on six features at this year’s Royal Ascot meeting, including the week’s signature event, the Gold Cup, which features the trifecta from last year’s Melbourne Cup.
Winner of that race, Twilight Payment, is a $26 chance with the horse he denied at Flemington, Tiger Moth, sharing the $11 third line. Perennial Melbourne Cup placegetter, Prince Of Arran is at $21 in a market headed by Stradivarius ($2.50), who is shooting for a fourth-straight win in the prestigious race.
Armory, runner-up to Sir Dragonet in last year’s Cox Plate, features prominently in two markets. He’s an $11 chance in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes and a $15 shot in the Queen Anne Stakes. While recent Queen Elizabeth Stakes winner Addeybb also occupies a place on the $11 line in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes.
Battaash is $4 favourite to successfully defend his crown in the King’s Stand Stakes, Dream Of Dreams heads betting at $6 for the other open Group 1 sprint, the Diamond Jubilee Stakes, while Campanelle is the $6 favourite for the Commonwealth Cup.
